Cyberpunk 2077 DLC

Now that the most anticipated game of 2020 has finally been released, there’s one question on everyone’s minds – when will we be seeing the first DLC for CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077.

Representatives have actually confirmed a rough time frame but you won’t be blamed for missing it, having slipped it into the games launch trailer last week.

A single frame placed at the end of the trailer had the Polish developer reflect on starting this new franchise after years of building up their other hit AAA series The Witcher.

“We’ve mentioned before that expansions will be coming, and while we’re not ready to talk specifics just yet, we will say that we’ve learned a lot from our work on both Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine. Our planned expansions will take you even deeper into the world of Cyberpunk 2077, offering substantial, story-driven content that’ll give you tough choices to make through impactful narratives that you won’t soon forget,” the hidden message said.

“But before we get there, we’ll first be kicking off our free DLC program in early 2021. Just like with The Witcher 3, expect an assortment of free DLC packs to begin hitting Night City, dropping a bunch of cool stuff that’ll inject even more life into the world of the dark future.”

Fans will be particularly happy to hear the references to The Witcher 3’s DLCs ‘Hearts of Stone’ and ‘Blood and Wine’ both of which added dozens of hours of gameplay to the already huge titles and were received by fans and critics particularly positively.

Smaller DLC packs for the Witcher 3 tended to be more in line with cosmetic outfits, small new quests and a new game+ mode. It’s likely Cyberpunk will receive something similar, for example, new vehicles, weapons, outfits, fixer gigs (the game’s equivalent of side quests) but we’d love to see them start paving the way for the bigger expansions to come.

Where are you hoping the upcoming DLC takes the title? We’d love to see them bring back the originally promised vehicle customization that had to be scrapped and delve into the underworld of Night City – quite literally considering there’s supposedly an entire civilization down there!
